NY 1938, Cortland x Lodi seedling. The tree is vigorous and shows some susceptibility to fireblight. Fruit ripens a month earlier than Cortland with a tarter flavor than Cortland and distinct striping. Early Cortland has a longer storage life than most early apples (about for months, comparable to McIntosh.)
