Honeygold is a cross of Golden Delicious x Haralson introduced in 1969 by the University of Minnesota Horticulture Research Center.
Hardy substitute for Golden Delicious developed especially for cold northern areas. Has Golden Delicious flavor, Haralson hardiness. Medium to large golden to greenish fruit with very smooth finish and reddish bronze blush. Flavor is sweeter and more bland than Golden Delicious. High quality.
Tree is moderately vigorous tree, good cropping, but susceptible to fire blight. Hardy to -50 degrees with occasional winter injury, hardy to zone 3. Ready to harvest late October in upstate New York, keeps till December.
