James Grieve is a Scottish apple named after its breeded in Scotland, 1893.
The apple is medium, roundish and red. It is tart as first, but mellows to a creamy, sweet, smooth, custard-like flavor in storage.
Ready to harvest midseason. Blossom is frost resistant. Some susceptibility to scab and fireblight. Bruises easily. Good dessert and juice apple.
