Kinnaird's Choice was found on a farm in Tennessee, c. 1855, noted in 1872. Hypothesized to be a cross between Winesap x Limbertwig.
The fruit is dark red, medium to large, and with thick skin. Flavor is fragrant and mildly tart. Suitable for dessert and cider, also used in cooking.
The tree is vigorous, upright and bushy. It bears young, blooms late. Moderately resistant to all major diseases.
