Lady, also known as Pome d'Api, Christmas Apple, or Api, is an ancient apple of debated origin. Some place it's origin as Brittany, France in the 1500's. while others say it is older. Lady is possibly the oldest apple still being grown today and may have been well established during the Roman Empire. Because it was a small and flavorful apple it was popular during the Renaissance when ladies would keep one tucked away in their pockets and taken out to freshen their breath.
The apple is small, green to creamy yellow and crimson. Flesh white, crisp and juicy. Highly aromatic. It is also widely used as a Christmas decoration by wiring them to wreaths.
Small tree bears heavily, recommended for home garden. Ready to harvest around early November.
