Margil is an apple from either England or France, introduced in 1750.
The fruit is medium to small, slightly conical fruit. Orangish red skin with dark red stripes over gold russet patches. Always russeted on one side. Firm, sugary, yellow flesh. Intensely flavored, rich, aromatic, deep cream flesh. Irregularly ribbed shape.
The tree is small and a light cropper, suitable for a small garden. Ready to harvest early October in upstate New York, keeps till December.
